BILLY HASSELL received his B.A. at Notre Dame and his M.F.A. at the University of Massachusetts. His brightly colored paintings and etchings are inspired by observations of nature and the interdependency of species. A self-proclaimed conservationist, Hassell's work reveals his concerns for the environment and he uses animals to convey human situations. He has also contributed images to further the cause of the Nature Conservancy. Hassell's paintings are in numerous public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Modern Art Museum of Ft. Worth, the Dallas Museum of Art, and The Menil Collection, Houston.
