LUANNE STOVALL resides in Galveston, Texas where she begins her paintings from small collages, comprised of images cut from publications ranging from art history books to scientific magazines.
She cuts, pastes, draws and erases overlapping images which she selects for their narrative and evocative power, transforming them into works of art which communicate a rooted yet fresh view of humanity's role in the universe. Many of them inspire oil on canvas paintings in which "fragments of history resurface [and] The viewer is then asked to sift through the evidence there can be no final or 'correct' interpretation."
Stovall's paintings have been exhibited widely in Texas including the Amarillo Museum of Art, the Galveston Art Center and the Austin Museum of Art.
